ESPN needed video interviews and photography with FC Barcelona’s biggest stars – Messi, Xavi, Puyol, and Fabregas – for their Asian market communication. The catch? Everything had to work around the players’ strict training schedules.
When 20 Minutes With Messi Means Zero Margin for Error
Building a green screen setup? Normally, that’s straightforward video production. But when you have Messi available for just 20 minutes, everything changes.
One technical fault, one lighting adjustment, one audio issue – and you’ve lost your shot with one of the world’s most valuable football players. This project required our entire crew to work like an orchestra, every element perfectly timed and synchronized.
The Precision Setup
Camera Crew Spain’s extensive experience in sports video production and working with international talents made this high-pressure execution possible. Our 6-person crew built a complete green screen studio inside FC Barcelona’s training facility – then executed flawlessly from the moment the players walked in:
- Producer: Timing coordinated to the second
- Director of Photography: Lighting pre-tested and locked
- Camera operator: Ready to roll immediately, no adjustments needed
- Gaffers: Every light positioned and backup systems ready
- Sound engineer: Audio levels set, redundant recording running
- Photographer: Equipment tested, shots planned in advance
The green screen had to be broadcast-perfect from the first frame, giving ESPN flexibility for Asian market backgrounds while capturing world-class talent in their limited availability windows.
The Result
Four football legends filmed successfully within their tight schedules. ESPN got broadcast-quality content for TV and social media across Asian markets – because when you only get 20 minutes with Messi, those 20 minutes have to be perfect.
